A time for reflection and a nostalgic browse through last December's newsletter reminds me just how far Recipes2Share has grown and developed in such a short time. A huge thank you to each and every member, contributor, and also a special mention to Margaux whose fascinating wine articles I await in eager anticipation.

Each month I try to bring you something new, and December is no exception with the addition of Food Video Blog. This is open to members who are invited submit material in a similar way to our Photo Gallery. Take a look ...... there is already a selection of fabulous videos waiting to be viewed, and I must offer a special thanks to Darren Barr who successfully achieves that difficult fine-line balance between teaching and unadulterated entertainment.

For last minute food and gift ideas check out Taste Gold 2008 -2009, which is a brand new guide published by the Guild of Fine Food and lists every one of the 596 top tasting food and drink products awarded gold in this year’s Great Taste Awards along with their star rating. Also, remember to visit R2S Book Reviews which will hopefully lead you to find inspiration to help choose that perfect book for a cook.

I recently found a really useful address which I must share with you - The British Turkey Web Site. This offers really practical advice on nutrition, quality, choosing, cooking and just about anything else you could possibly think of asking about the beloved turkey along with a plethora of original recipes.

However you choose to celebrate, do so in style. Be tempted our tasty selection of seasonal recipes such as easy to prepare Norwegian Gravalax or Smoked Venison & Peppered Pear Salad from the selection devised by Richard Barclay of Rannoch Smokery, or perhaps you are just in the mood for a chilly Slush Margarita. However or wherever you are entertaining, you are sure to find something to suit your needs from our own Canapés & Cocktail recipe section.

A merry Christmas to all,

About the author:

I am a freelance Home Economist currently based in Paris, qualifying at the Totley Thornbridge college of Home Economics in Sheffield, England plus teacher training at King Alfred’s College, Winchester.

Work has been varied and interesting. I fondly remember my time with Family Circle magazine during my initial studies which, under the watchful eye of Pam Dotter, the then Food Editor, and fun loving Mitzie Wilson (recent editor of Delicious magazine), became and still remains my source of inspiration for recipe development and food writing.

My first full-time job was as manager of the Patisserie Section in the grand London store, Fortnum & Mason, gaining invaluable food retail management experience as well as involvement with F&M's flamboyant catering activities.

After this I worked with multi-national General Foods followed by Kraft Foods (which, incidentally, are now the same company) until deciding to undertake teacher training. This perfectly complimented my industrial Home Economics background and provided a wealth of opportunity for work, where ever our expatriate years lead us, teaching children as young as 4 years of age through to adults of quite unquestionable age.

Since leaving the UK in 1993 I have lived in Scandinavia and Europe and currently live in Paris, France with my husband and 2 children where my time is divided between teaching, recipe development and testing, food writing and cookery demonstrations.
