Using the rubbed in method, this is an excellent basic recipe for biscuits. Play by adding your own flavourings such as: citrus zest, ginger, cocoa, chocolate chips and chopped nuts to make just a few suggestions.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C; Line 2 baking trays with baking parchment
1. In a medium sized mixing bowl combine the flour and sugar, rub in the butter or margarine until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs then add sufficient egg to make a stiff dough.
2. Roll out thinly and using a fluted cutter, cut into 7.5cm rounds. Place on the baking trays and bake for about 15 minutes until cooked.
